Linocut is a form of relief printmaking, similar to woodcuts, where the image is carved into a lino block using sharp chisels/gouges. The lino is then inked, a piece of paper placed over it, then both are run through a printing press or pressure applied by hand to transfer the ink to the paper. The result, a linocut print, simple…right?!
Initially I loved the contrast of black ink and a white page, now the draw of lino for me is losing myself for hours carving a block.
